To get video capture working with OBS, I’m running OBS 27.1.3 with Screen Capture Pipewire. It must use PipeWire.
I’m running pipewire 0.3.45, which is a newer version than ships with Ubuntu 21.10.

To get the newer version of pipewire, I added the pipewire-debian ppa to my system.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pipewire-debian/pipewire-upstream
I’m using Kooha version 2.0.1 installed from flatpak for the shorter screen video to gif videos.
Despite not really understanding what I gain by moving from X11 to Wayland, I continue to use it. I hope that I’ll learn more about Wayland and pipewire over time.
